This sedimentary red alga lives on sea bed and can be found abundantly on Brittany coasts.

Maerl is a calcareous alga consisting 95% of mineral substance. Therefore it looks like a rock and is very often mistaken for coral. Coming from the “ Glénans ” Islands our products have a large purity (low presence of sand and shells).

Lithothamnium calcareum is very well known in dietetics and cosmetics in body wraps for it’s mineral and trace element content.
